Located on the banks of the Cher River, in a preserved environment, the Abbey of Noirlac unfolds nearly nine centuries of rich and often tormented history. Today, in a perfectly restored monument, it welcomes visitors to discover its architecture of light. As a cultural center, it offers several artistic events throughout the year.

Medieval castle built in the 14th century on the site of a 12th century fortress, in the middle of the village of Ainay-le-Vieil, in the Cher department. Since 1467, the castle remains in the same family. Three generations in a row, it is transmitted by women, some of whose alliances are both prestigious and known. The current owners count among their ancestors Jean-Baptiste Colbert, minister of Louis XIV. Nicknamed "little Carcassonne" because of its circular fortified enclosure, the castle of Ainay-le-Vieil is now part of the Jacques Coeur tourist route.
